  • Opening Round at The US Open

Posted on June 18, 2010 by Rob

Following Ryan's group around on the first day at The US Open was eye opening, especially for an amateur who had never been to a Major before.

On TV, everything tends to look a lot more flat and uniform than it really is - the topography at Pebble Beach is wonderful. At the venue, you can actually "feel" what the players are going through - the tension in the air is palpable from start to finish. Simply put, the US Open is a grind of monumental proportions in the world of golf.

Obviously every golfer playing in the US Open is supremely gifted - they were born as +2 handicaps as a minimum and worked from there. Continue Reading

TRUE linkswear is currently ensconced at Pebble Beach.

We will be sending out a new blog each day discussing something interesting we noticed.

Check out this photo of Ryan putting - Pebble Beach Golf Links is one of the most beautiful courses I have ever seen. The ocean holes are gorgeous and playing downright nasty for the US Open.

    My TRUE story

The first flash of inspiration for TRUE Linkswear fittingly occurred on a golf course.

I was walking 18 at my home course with a guy who was playing in the Vibram Five Fingers shoes.  I thought they were some of the wildest looking shoes I’d ever seen, and I wasn’t alone.  Four (!?!) different groups asked my playing partner about them during the round. He was a true believer who wore his Five Fingers shoes all day, every day. Needless to say he  passionately introduced me to the barefoot concept.

I met Rob (now President of TRUE linkswear) a few weeks before that round, and I joined his Walking Golfers Society.  The Walking Golfer is a site dedicated to promoting the holistic benefits of walking golf, ranging from health to a closer connection with your friends and nature on the course.

I told my Five Fingers playing partner that if the barefoot guys ever got together with the Walking Golfer guys, there might be a business there.  Who knew??? Continue Reading

  • My TRUE Story - Rob

As a Co-Founder of TRUE linkswear, the journey from concept to sample production has been both exciting and strenuous.

On May 19th, our samples arrived from the factory and I was fortunate enough to strike the first drive ever in our Trues. The location, lovely Stevens Park Golf Course in Dallas, Texas. The club, a Persimmon MacGregor Super Eye-O-Matic.

First Shot in the Trues - Stevens Park GC, Dallas, TX

Twilight at Stevens may not elicit the same emotional response as one at Bandon Dunes, but a bunch of us played an epic nine holes in our new Trues that evening and it was as enjoyable as any round I can remember.

The format - one club per hole. The players - Rob Rigg, Sean Eidson, Jeremy Moore, Troy Denton and his buddy Gabe.
