Following Ryan's group around on the first day at The US Open was eye opening, especially for an amateur who had never been to a Major before.
On TV, everything tends to look a lot more flat and uniform than it really is - the topography at Pebble Beach is wonderful. At the venue, you can actually "feel" what the players are going through - the tension in the air is palpable from start to finish. Simply put, the US Open is a grind of monumental proportions in the world of golf.
